I love seeing black entrepreneurship in action! According to Black Enterprise, Aaliyah Alicia Thompson was “the first autistic woman in the country to open her own beauty bar.” made history.
The salon is located in Clayton Country, about 15 miles from Atlanta. Clients can receive hair and nail services and walk-ins are welcome.
Aaliyah was diagnosed with autism when she was five years old, but was determined to make her dream come true. She graduated with honors from her high school and found her calling in the beauty industry.
She attended Ann Angel Beauty School and Salon in Jonesboro, Georgia where she grew up.
It was Aaliyah’s mother, Patricia Terry, who recognized Aaliyah’s raw talent and turned it into a business. Black Enterprise reports:
Aaliyah strives to inspire other entrepreneurs with special needs to pursue their passion.
