In honor of the 27th National Autism Awareness Week, the Autism Association Philippines (ASP) and SM Cares, Mandaluyong City Government, and the National Council for Disability Affairs (NCDA) recently celebrated Autism at SM Megamall Cinema 4. The event will foster meaningful conversations on a variety of issues relating to people on the autism spectrum and their loved ones, and will be held in line with the theme “Building a Nation Empowered by Autism-Inclusive Transformational Innovation.” It was something.

Bien Mateo.
Also in attendance were Troy Montero, Aubrey Miles and Kandy Pangilinan. These are autism awareness activists and proud parents of children with autism.
Magno-Veluz moderated the first session, with Abalos-Vargas, Sagun, Borja, and Caluyo as panelists highlighting the importance of innovation in addressing issues related to people on the spectrum. This was followed by the first question and answer session of the day.
In a second session moderated by Koe, Montero, Miles and Pangilinan provided helpful tips for other parents living with families with autism.
Panelists also expressed support for other parents caring for children with autism and ensured that support was available when needed.
In a special message, Mateo thanked ASP for always believing in SM Cares’ advocacy.
He also reiterated that SM is a mall for everyone, whether they have disabilities or not. “I would like to send a message to everyone who visits the mall, including those with autism. You are always welcome here at SM.”
