“He was shivering in the water. When we managed to rescue him, he was too exhausted to walk.”
A 9-year-old girl was rescued and treated by paramedics.
Police said he was reported missing about two hours ago from his home in Braybrook, about 5 kilometers upstream from where he was found.
“We were shocked when we learned that he had been reported missing in Braybrook and had managed to make his way down the river to Avondale Heights,” said Kossack.
They said the boy was in danger of drowning if the public did not call the police.
“We thank the public for noticing the boy in the river and reporting it to us. If they had not done this, the consequences would have been tragic.”
