Named after the Greek god of the west wind, Zéphyros Winds bring together five soloists known for their virtuosic playing style to perform a wide range of wind music with a near-symphonic sound. His five members of Zephyros Winds – Jennifer Grimm on flute, Fatma Dougler on oboe, Marianne Gisfeld on clarinet, Saxton Rhodes on bassoon, and Soher Schoendorf on horn – all pursued chamber music and orchestral careers. In 1995, one year after its formation, the ensemble won first place and the Grand Prix at the Fischhof National Chamber Music Competition, attracting attention as the first brass quintet in the history of the competition.
