Jordan Walker-Ross plays James, the son of Alphaeus, in the hit Christian series. The character is also known as “Little James” and is depicted as having a limp. Jordan himself has scoliosis, mild cerebral palsy, and a limp. Therefore, he can identify with his character.
In a scene in the second episode of Season 3, Little Jordan talks to Jesus about his disability. Jacob is asking Jesus why he is commanded to heal others when he himself has not been healed. The six-minute scene resonated with fans in the disability community, praising Jordan’s vulnerability and openness.
“It resonates with so many people,” Jordan said in an interview. “I’ve probably received thousands of comments and messages at this point. I am especially proud to be a member of that community myself.

This scene was recently uploaded to the series’ Facebook page and currently has over 1.5 million views. In that scene, Jesus replied to Little James that he had been chosen because he was praising God despite his disability.
“And this scene is about showing people that just because you’re different doesn’t mean you’re broken, you’re worthy of being loved, you can give love, you can take advantage of the situation. I hope I can…do good in the world, help others, inspire others, and inspire others,” Jordan said. “And that’s what people get out of it. I hope it’s a message, we are never promised physical healing in this life, but I think a lot of the time the healing we need is internal. I think that’s what that message is all about and I’m incredibly proud and humbled to have been a small part of it. I am thinking.”
