On April 16th, the Autism Research Institute will host its fifth annual Active for Autism 5K & Kids Dash. The event will spread awareness of autism while raising funds to fund new research, awarding scholarships to students on the spectrum, and providing free resources to families and educators. Runners, family and friends are encouraged to join us in celebrating National Autism Acceptance Month while enjoying the beauty of Alexandria, Virginia in the springtime. Located next to George Washington Middle School in Alexandria, Virginia, Active for Autism 5K offers a fast, flat out-and-back course along the Potomac Yard Trail. This family and autism friendly event is a great race for runners and walkers of all ages and abilities, also her 5K for kids ages 5-12 followed by a 1/2 mile Kids Dash I have. Participants and spectators are invited to join in the fun post-race festivities!
Active for Autism 5K & Kids Dash is organized by the Organization for Autism Research, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization (ID# 54-2062167). Self Advocates, Parents, Autism Professionals, and Caregivers. All proceeds from Active for Autism 5K will go to the Autism Research Organization in Arlington, Virginia.
