Congressional Task Force on Down Syndrome

My eldest son Cole was born with Down Syndrome and he is one of the greatest blessings of my life. Getting to see the world through Cole’s eyes has made me a better mother and a better legislator. I remember being there.

That’s why I formed a bipartisan, bicameral congressional task force on Down Syndrome with Rep. Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-Washington), Sen. Jerry Moran (R-Kansas) and Bob Casey (D-Pennsylvania). I am very pleased to announce that I will lead This task As co-chair of her Force, she will be dedicated to educating Capitol Hill colleagues and their staff about Down syndrome and the unique challenges facing the Down syndrome community.

From highlighting groundbreaking research to phasing out the practice of employers paying below minimum wage, our mission is to remove barriers and improve the quality of life for people with Down syndrome. It’s about finding new ways.
I am deeply grateful to my colleagues on both sides of the aisle for helping me lead this important group. Together, we will educate those around us and show the world that no one is bound by birth conditions. I’m sure you can show me.
