Southport, NY (WETM) – AJ’s Deli in Southport has just been purchased by the AIM Independent Living Center, according to the organization’s Facebook page.
AIM Center for Independent Living is a non-profit organization that provides support and services to people with disabilities. A statement regarding the purchase of AJ’s Deli was released on Monday, January 29 on the organization’s Facebook page. It is used in conjunction with the Employment Assistance Program of
According to AIM’s outreach coordinator, Derrick Ek, AIM provides “employment assistance services, including employment skills, placement, and job coaching.” He added that AIM works with many companies that employ people with disabilities, but it would be better if AIM had its own business for employment assistance programs.
AIM’s employment specialists help people with disabilities develop job skills and connect with local employers. These specialists also provide on-the-job training and ongoing support.
