There is a growing need for travel options that welcome families and people with autism. Because of this need, DoubleTree renews its commitment to Autism Certification.

We are happy to continue working with DoubleTree and the Mesa community. Our certification program is designed to provide long-term support for our partners to welcome all guests. ”

    — Myron Pincomb, IBCCES President

MESA, Ariz., USA, Jan. 12, 2023 /EINPresswire.com/ — 1 in 6 people have sensory needs (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc /articles/PMC5733937/) and 1 in 44 children in the United States is diagnosed with autism (https://www.cdc.gov/ncbddd/autism/data.html) The need for inclusive and welcoming travel options for families and individuals grows every day. To meet this need, DoubleTree by Hilton Phoenix Mesa has taken new steps to make all guests, including those with autism, feel welcome.

Since becoming a Certified Autism Center™ (CAC) in 2019, DoubleTree by Hilton Phoenix Mesa is the first Autism-Certified City the City of Mesa was designated by the International Accreditation and Continuing Education Commission that year. was part of an initiative to become Standard (IBCCES). CAC certification requires guest-facing staff to complete a training and certification program to better understand and welcome autistic and hypersensitive guests and their families.

“We are committed to serving all our guests and finding ways to best meet their needs. I feel more confident about how to deliver and apply the training and knowledge I get on the job to my daily life.”

In 2019, when IBCCES designated Mesa as the first-ever Autism Certified City (ACC), there was an enhanced focus on inclusion and accessibility in the Mesa community, especially for individuals with autism and their families. started. This designation means that both visitors and residents have access to health care, public safety, education, hospitality and recreational organizations. It also means access to workplaces that are trained and accredited to be more understanding and welcoming of individuals with autism and neurodiverse. Visit Mesa endorsed the ACC initiative and quickly gained support from key community stakeholders in these areas.

“We are delighted to continue working with DoubleTree by Hilton Phoenix Mesa and the Mesa community. Our certification program provides long-term support to our partners as part of our strong commitment to welcoming all guests.” We are pleased to announce that another Mesa location has updated its program and continues our journey, as it is designed to do so.Chairman.

For more than 20 years, IBCCES has been the leader in cognitive impairment training and certification for healthcare, education, public safety, travel and business professionals worldwide. IBCCES has created a special program for hospitality and recreational organizations such as hotels, theme parks and other attractions. This has resulted in staff being more knowledgeable and other accommodation being offered to some of this growing but underserved community. IBCCES is the only accreditation body that offers this type of program. This includes training from subject matter experts and autism advocates, long-term support, ongoing learning, and onsite reviews.

IBCCES also created AutismTravel.com, a free online resource for families. It lists certification options and connects them to other resources. Each location listed on the site meets the requirements of a Certified Autism Center™ (CAC).
