Authorities are looking for the hit-and-run driver who seriously injured an autistic man on Christmas Eve in El Sereno.
According to Los Angeles Police Department, the crash occurred around 3:40 p.m. Dec. 24 when victim Andrew Ramos, 22, collided with the driver of a green Toyota Tundra while the dog was walking over a sign. occurred in Crosswalk at the intersection of Huntington Drive and Kendall Avenue.
Instead of stopping to help Ramos, who has high-functioning autism, the driver fled the area and offered no help.
The dog was not injured, but Ramos suffered a broken leg that required surgery and he is still recovering.
“Can you imagine the horror I felt on Christmas Eve?” said Valerie, Ramos’ mother. “Have you heard that your son was hit by a car?”
Ramos was at his grandmother’s house before a big family dinner, walked over to the store and offered to buy some milk and butter shortly before the incident occurred.
Now his family desperately seeks justice and demands that the driver turn himself in.
“He decided not to quit and left my son here. Basically dead,” said Melanie Ramos. “I had a range of emotions. Mainly sadness, then anger, and then the disbelief that someone could do that.”
Police believe the Toyota Tundra model was built between 2007 and 2013 and has custom wheels, running boards, bed covers, and untinted windows.

Investigators also believe the suspect is someone who lives near the area.

As the Ramos family continues their search for the driver, they plan to hand out flyers and ask anyone if they know the driver or car that ruined their vacation.
“Do the right thing. Go ahead and admit what you did wrong.”
The City of Los Angeles is offering a $25,000 bounty for information leading to an arrest in a case: arrest, background check and/or conviction.
