A report on the incident stated, “One lieutenant repeatedly told Johnson to drop the knife when he spoke to him at gunpoint. Johnson did not drop the knife or respond to verbal orders. I didn’t.”

Officers said they received information that a woman attending a New Year’s Eve party in the Crystal Ridge neighborhood of Lake Mary had been punched in the face with an unknown metal object.
The woman told police she was sitting on the patio of a friend’s house around 11:30 p.m. He said he had seen and heard nothing before hitting his face.
