Fort Worth Housing Solutions is one of 98 local public housing authorities to receive vouchers to house non-elderly people with disabilities as part of a $24.7 million award from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Fort Worth will receive 50 vouchers totaling $462,378.
These vouchers help non-elderly disabled people who are at high risk of being institutionalized, are homeless, or are at risk of becoming homeless, who are transitioning from institutions or other segregated settings. increase.

Only two other Texas housing authorities received vouchers. San Antonio on his 50 vouchers totaled over $350,000, and Austin on his 50 vouchers totaled nearly $564,000.
“People with disabilities have the right to access affordable housing that meets their needs,” HUD Secretary Marcia Fudge said in a press release. It will help enable more people with disabilities to function as fully integrated members of their communities and live independently and with dignity.”

The average waiting list waiting list for housing choice vouchers is now four years, and both the city and county waiting lists for vouchers are currently closed.
