Turkish scientists have discovered a new species Yang Yang (Gammarus) To the world literature of Zonguldak.

Binali Yildirim University, Department of Biology, Faculty Member Dr. Mert Elverici and Arachnologist (scientist interested in the sub-branch of Zoology that studies spiders and scorpions) Cyprus Wildlife InstituteKadir Bogac Kunt, conducted studies of various species in the Gokgol cave in Zonguldak.

The samples of bipeds of the crustacean (crustacea) class that they collected were collected by a professor of fisheries at the University of Aegean, who is an expert in this field. Dr. Murat Ozbek, Recep Tayyip Erdogan UniversityFaculty of Fisheries, Dr. He shared with faculty members Ismail Aksu and Hazel Baytasoglu.

Morphological and molecular analysis revealed that the organism in question was a new species, distinct from other similar species in the world, and previously undescribed by the scientific community.

In an article published in an international peer-reviewed journal, the new fire seed was named Gammarus Zumahu. Turkish Cave Federation (TUMAF).

A team including Dr. Murat Ozbekin identified two types of fires in the 1429-meter Cheeselikonu Cave in 2019. This cave is believed to be the deepest in Turkey, located in the Anamur district of Mersin. I named them Gammarus Egmao and Gammarus Deliere.

“There are more than 1000 species in the world”

Professor Ozbek explained that gammars are crustacean creatures, 0.5 to 1 cm long, that typically live in cold springs, streams and lake shores.

Ozbek said the caves are visited by tourists and the situation is having a negative impact on the creatures, stressing the need to protect this rare species that only lives in Goggol Cave.

These creatures are abundant in springs, streams and lakes, Ozbek said, and they also live in well water and cave groundwater.

“In this survey, we found that there are endemic species in Japan. Goggol Cave, that is, found only there in the world. We brought this to the world of science. The biological richness of countries is one of the most important parts of their natural richness. From the outside, this species is very similar to other species belonging to the same genus.

In our country there are 51 different species of this creature. Found the 52nd here. There are over 1000 species in the world. From the outside, it looks like this, usually a person, maybe me too. not a living thing. They are very similar in appearance to each other. However, molecular or detailed microscopic examination can determine the species, which can be determined by an expert.

Ozbek said the 350-million-year-old Gyeokgol cave creatures adapted to the site, adding he was delighted to have made such an important discovery.

    “This is a beautiful development”

    Thanking his teammates, Osbek said:

“There was a species here that was unknown to the scientific community. We discovered it. Future research could be conservation research or other molecular research. Our Scientists are working on this problem. These are good progress. There weren’t many scientists.Maybe this is why these subjects were under the control of foreigners.
