As the number of seniors continues to grow nationally and in the Lake Highlands and Lakewood regions, demand for housing options is also increasing. The following list is not exhaustive.

Independent living communities target older people who have limited care needs. Most rooms include amenities such as fitness programs, housekeeping, and communal dining.
Assisted living communities specialize in providing care and supervision. These facilities often offer a full range of facilities as well as limited medical assistance.
Memory care facilities specialize in the care of older adults with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, and other cognitive problems. Staff are trained to help residents manage these illnesses.
Hospice care is aimed at relieving the symptoms and distress associated with terminal illness in patients with six months or less to live. Patients must choose to forgo further curative therapy.
Nursing homes/advanced nursing homes provide care for people with illnesses and mental conditions who require full-time supervision and medical care.
A complex may provide some or all of these services.
