January board meeting
January 4, 2023
The Hardin County Agricultural Association attended its January monthly board meeting on Wednesday, January 4, 2023. 16 directors and his 8 guests were present.
Brad Murphy, president of the board, called for a meeting.
The letter was read from Kirk Cameron, who is interested in being appointed director for a year. Brad said he would follow up with Kirk.
Treasurer Judy Cronley discussed various options for handing over Open Class and JR Fair premium money. The Director has decided to have a box for exhibitors to check for blanks in their entries if they so desire.
Corey Ledley and Rob Wilson have named Don Spur as the Fair’s 2023 Fair Winner. The motion passed unanimously. The directors have approved his 2022 Annual Report. The annual report will be posted on the fair’s website.
Rob Wilson, representing the ground’s committee, said a leak had been discovered and a new water pipe had to be dug underground to repair the leak. When the electricity went out during last winter’s storm, the beef toilet water line broke. This is currently being fixed. The director agreed that he would purchase buckets for Bob Cat from Specialty Steel Solutions for $900. Randy Clark made racks to store new chairs and tables for a community building. The Board has applied for a grant from the Hardin County Community Foundation and has agreed to paint the interior of the Arts/Crafts building, including the Flower Department side.
Judy Cronley said the 2023 Fair Camping letters have been emailed and some have been sent by mail.
Entertainment Commission representative Rob Wilson said a rodeo deal was signed and free family entertainment will be booked at next week’s fair convention.
Junior Fair Livestock Sale Chairman Jack McBride said three businesses will have to pay the 2022 Livestock Sales Bill. I was.
Everyone was reminded that all fare book changes are required by January 18, 2023. Advertising in the fair book was discussed. I was informed that a sponsorship packet will be emailed to me shortly. There is no mailing, but follow-ups are done in person.
There was discussion about closing the main fair gates for admission to the fair. Only 6.8% usage was seen at past fairs. The directors have agreed to close the main fair gates.
The directors have agreed to have Hardin County Ag. Society River Raffle Fundraiser on Saturday, February 10, 2024.
Old business:
Judi notices that her credit card limit has been increased. This year’s fair was attended by 28 of her directors and their spouses. Eleven of these directors have stayed at the hotel more than her night.
Under new business:
Please note that the annual consignment will take place on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 9:00 am. The board of directors approved the advertising budget for the consignment sale. This year’s consignment sales adopt a new tag system. The next fair board meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 1st at 7:00 pm in the Community Building.
