‘Love Is In The Air’ Special Inspires Locals To Adopt Enthusiastic Valentines
– In honor of Valentine’s Day, the Woods Humane Society wants to encourage locals to find their pet soul mates with a “Love is in the Air” adoption event, February 1-14 I think. This promotion lowers the standard adoption fee for an adult dog (5 months and older) from her normal $65 for a senior cat to her $150 for an adult dog to just $14.
“At a time when our kennels and our shelter partners’ kennels are flooded with adoptable animals looking to give their hearts and souls to their families, Valentine’s Day celebrates the incredible love and love that adoption can bring. Dating seems like a great reason to remind our community, Woods CEO Neil Trent said.
To develop the artwork for the adoption special, Woods asked the community to submit photos showing their love for their pets, and received over 200 submissions to Facebook in one weekend.
The photo they decided to use shows Woods’ recently adopted dog Indy with three-time adoptee, longtime foster volunteer and Woods supporter Robin Friedman O’Leary. “Shortly after Indy joined our family, she became a happy, confident dog who loved meeting new people and other dogs,” says O’Leary. . “She has learned so many manners and she brings us love and joy most of all every day. She is just amazing and does something every day that makes us laugh.”
Development Director Emily L’Heureux describes O’Leary and Indi as the perfect “models” for this campaign. “With the iconic Morro Rock backdrop, idyllic beach sunsets and moments of pure love on their faces, this photo truly captures the joy and special bond that Woods’ adoptees and their pets share. We hope it inspires others to consider visiting our haven to find their next big love.”
The Love is in the Air promotion runs until February 14th. All animals are spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, licensed, and treated for parasites. Adoption also includes optional his 30-day pet insurance and a free check-up at a local veterinary clinic.
