The Historical Society of Ireland invites Irish primary school students and their mentor Susan Gossett for a presentation in the school newspaper.
On 15 January 2023, at 1:30pm, at the Historical Society of Ireland, 5173 West Walnut Street, Ireland, the public attended to learn how these 3rd and 5th graders put together a newspaper. invited to do so.
‘The Ireland Times’ follows a long tradition of newspapers covering Irish events. The first “The Ireland Argus” he published on October 28, 1879. The Historical Society has a copy of this first edition. Then, in 1922, an Irish high school published a paper entitled “The Beacon”.
In 1950 another print was published by the high school. This carried the cloak “Irish Gazette”.
Now they have ‘The Ireland Times’.
There will be refreshments after the program, in addition to presentations by students and mentors on new newspapers.
The Historical Society of Ireland has been bringing history programs to the Irish region for 27 years. They maintain 1,100 captioned images of local interests, many artifacts, and vintage Irish town models.
