The Ministry of Higher Education has initiated a review of the curricula of literature departments in private and public universities.
At a meeting at Kabul University on Tuesday, Deputy Minister of Higher Education Neda Mohammad Nadim said religious and contemporary subjects are needed and both are needed.
“Curriculum revision and attention to progress is necessary for our society and a way forward,” said Neda Mohammad Nadim.
Deputy Higher Education Minister U Lotfullah Khairkhwah said the curriculum will be prepared based on religious and national values with international educational standards.
“We are asking university lecturers to create curricula that can protect our country and religious values,” said Khairkhwah.
Officials said the curriculum will be revised in all departments of the university.
Many university lecturers said quality, balance, and harmony with international norms should be considered in the development of educational curricula.
“Considering the actual needs of the labor market and aligning it with global methods is one of the necessary criteria in the curriculum,” says university lecturer Saeed Jawad Sajadi.
University Lecturer Fazl Hadi Wazin said, “I hope this process will be conducted according to scientific and academic standards.
This is because the Ministry of Higher Education has banned women from attending college until “the next announcement.” This decision provoked a worldwide reaction.
