Addressing a ceremony held to mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities in Alifushi, Raa Atoll on Thursday evening, the president said state benefits and support for persons with disabilities are not only relevant to social security but also to individuals. said there is.
“We hope to be able to announce this change soon,” said President Solih.
He said that in addition to financial support for people with disabilities, treatment plans for these individuals are already underway and will be further strengthened in the future.
President Soli said disabled people are serving society. Evidence of this is that there are people with disabilities who are doing outstanding work in handicrafts, agriculture, painting, new inventions, etc., adding that if they are given the opportunity, they can benefit from it.
“Each of these people may have the ability to benefit society as a whole, and in some respects they may be more capable than others,” the president said. .
The president said many people are excluded from society and families even though they have no disabilities. Those in state custody are waiting for their families, he said.
“These people are dependent today, but their relatives are living comfortably thanks to the services and support provided, so we need to help their families,” the president said.
A digital portal for the Public Disability Registry has been launched with this feature. The portal was launched by First Lady Fazna Ahmed.
