The Idaho Arts Commission is currently accepting applications for the Literary Fellowship and the Idaho Writer in Residence.
The $5,000 Literary Fellowship recognizes artistic excellence in the fields of fiction, creative non-fiction, poetry, screenplays, playwrights, or other literary uses of the written word. Applicants are judged anonymously in a competitive process and judged based on existing work and experience.
The biennial Idaho Writer-in-Residence Grant is the highest literary recognition and largest financial award earned by an Idaho writer. The residency encourages interaction and appreciation of excellent literature throughout the state. Anonymous applications are adjudicated by a panel of out-of-state experts in the field. A resident writer must engage with Idaho residents four times a year through readings, craft workshops, presentations, events, or projects during her appointment. The amount awarded as a grant is $5,000 per year for a period of two years.
Idaho writers are encouraged to apply by the January 31st deadline. To apply online and for more information, visit arts.idaho.gov/grants/ or call 208-334-2119.
A state agency under the Governor’s Office, the Idaho Arts Commission provides access to the arts, arts education, and cultural and artistic heritage of Idahoans.
