The event was called at 10:30pm, crowd control was tight, and numbered admission cards were checked twice.
Gone were the usual long queues waiting to navigate the reception line – no doubt a result of the shrinking crowds – and guests set sail into pavilions adorned with colored uplights and potted palms.
It was more than enough for the prettiest venue in town. You don’t have to plate your Mary Lily with gold.
Ahahahaha.
The best 90 minutes of the season included champagne and cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and dancing to the Neil Smith Orchestra until 2022 faded away at midnight countdown.

Once upon a time last stanza Old Lang Syne It was sung — and does anyone really know more than one stanza? — half the crowd went home and the other half went outside to mingle with the arriving junior set.
