
Kansas City’s new art exhibition showcases Johnson County Development Support’s Emerging Artists Program and Imagine That’s studio work. KC, a day program for adult artists with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
The Peripheral Visions art exhibition will be on display from January 7 to March 25, 2023 in the Central Library of the Kansas City Public Library at the Mountain Gallery at 14 W. 10th Street in Kansas City, Missouri.
The works of artists with intellectual and developmental disabilities are often exhibited on the fringes of the art world, even if they are of high artistic value and technical level. The exhibition spotlights dozens of Imagine That! artists. KC and Johnson County Developmental Supports Emerging Artists Program.
A collage from one of the participants was featured on the Charlotte Street Foundation’s Public Art Crossroads artboard. He has also published a collection of works.Multiple artists featured in award-winning short documentary budding artist.
Imagine! The KC and JCDS Emerging Artists Program supports artists diagnosed with intellectual and developmental disabilities, enabling them to sell and exhibit their work locally and nationally alongside the work of other artists. This exhibition presents the program and a fascinating art collection in a variety of media, including pen and pencil drawings, textile sculptures, acrylics and collages.
