SAN DIEGO – Looking for a furry new best friend? Look no further because the San Diego Humane Society (SDHC) has waived adoption fees for adult pets. The organization announced on Friday.
This offer is valid on Saturdays and Sundays for pets 7 months and older only.
SDHC is able to waive these fees thanks to a $3,000 donation from a local animal lover named Patrick Woo-Sam.
According to SDHC, at the start of 2023, shelter capacity will reach 131% and is nearing capacity. Most of them have to do with the arrival of stray dogs that their owners have never recovered.
There are over 500 animals in foster care, 230 of which are adult dogs.
Walk-in adoptions are available at SDHC campuses in Escondido, El Cajon, Oceanside and San Diego, Tuesday through Sunday from 10am to 5pm.
Dr. Gary Weitzman, President and CEO of the San Diego Human Society, said: “Each of them is an individual to be loved and their own proper home.”

According to the SDHC, all adopted pets have already been spayed and vaccinated and have been evaluated and cared for to help free up space in the shelter.
