A special fundraising event in Llanidloes has boosted clubs that offer people with disabilities to get outside and play sports.
Before the coronavirus pandemic hit, N Able provided sporting activities at Newtown’s Maldwyn Leisure Center for about 100 people with mental and physical disabilities, from Welshpool to Brecon. But after having to close for some time, N Able volunteers are ready to provide multi-sport activities and wheelchair basketball for the disabled.
Hafren and the Llanidloes Choir, the Maldwyn String Orchestra and Zu Aerial performed at a free sold-out concert at the Llanidloes Community Center before Christmas, raising valuable funds for N Able.
Steve Cox, founder of Staylittle near Llanidloes, is also credited with helping two disability groups in Montgomeryshire now under N Able. The stroke club and nerve group they met at Newtown’s Methodist Church were scheduled to close before Steve came to the rescue.
