Police seize replica gun

The Kelowna RCMP told Castanet that it responded to a call shortly before 2 p.m. on Friday that indicated a person was pointing out possible weapons in the 1600 block of St. Paul Street in downtown Kelowna.
Officers responded quickly, barring vehicles from traffic while apprehending a man believed to be carrying a replica gun.
A spokesperson for the RCMP said: “After closing the block to traffic, officers were able to apprehend the suspect man without incident and found what appeared to be a replica handgun. There are no public safety concerns. ” he said.
The RCMP continues to investigate, but police tapes have been removed and traffic has returned to normal.

St. Paul Street in downtown Kelowna has reopened following a police incident near the John Howard Society.
Police placed a temporary blockade on St. Paul Street on Friday afternoon, and officers could be seen drawing their weapons.
One of the officers at the scene told Castanet that one person was now in custody. The police tape has now been removed.
Castanet has contacted the RCMP for more information.

The RCMP has blocked part of St. Paul Street in downtown Kelowna.
Several RCMP cruisers and officers withdrawing weapons blocked St. Paul Street near the John Howard Society building.
