Growing up without knowing that she had a learning disability affected Attila Roberson’s education.
“I never thought I would do something like this, but there are a lot of kids in Arkansas, a lot of black kids in Arkansas, and we’re dealing with this issue, so this opportunity “And I hope I’m doing my job when I can speak up and be as vocal as possible.”
A graduate of Hot Springs High School, she said she began her education at a private Catholic school before transferring to public school.
“And I was able to take the test, and that’s how they discovered I had a learning disability,” she said.
Diagnosed with ADHD, dyslexia, dyscalculia, and delayed auditory processing, Roberson didn’t know about his disability until he entered college.
“From what I’ve researched myself, I didn’t really do that until I got to college, because once you’re in college, your parents aren’t allowed access to a lot of your information,” she said. said.

“It was quite a sight to behold. Having access to a great disability resource center made it all the more comfortable to navigate.Disability.
“At some point I got to the point where I was like, ‘Do I have to regret what was assigned to me for some reason?’ If anything, that’s a good thing, and[you]have to learn to work with learning disabilities, not against them. is.”
Roberson didn’t stop earning a Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration from Henderson State University after learning she had a learning disability. She is currently working towards her Master of Public Administration degree at the University of Texas at Antonio.
Roberson recently started a new job at Maybelle Vale Elementary School’s Little Rock School District. There she serves as her coordinator for a community school site.
She also served on the Board of the National Center for Learning Disabilities’ Young Adult Leadership Council from 2019-2021. Although she no longer serves on the board, she said, “She is deeply connected to the organization.”
“We’ve done a lot, but I think we need to do more because I’m just one voice in one picture of what it looks like.” , how many others are there? And I never saw this and I always think I’m going to do this because I wish I had access to grow.”
