The Rudd Historical Society is expected to eventually rebuild the museum space, which was severely damaged by the Derecho tornado in December 2021.
In a Facebook post, the Rudd Historical Society of Iowa said, “Construction on the new museum building is scheduled to begin as soon as the weather improves in the spring. Estimates for the rebuild are $75,000 more than the Historical Society can currently obtain. But now that the cost of reconstruction has finally been found out, the grant can be written.”
The Post adds that the new building will be built on a cement pad that remains where the previous building was. A lot of what was in the part was lost.
Plans for the reconstruction will be presented and discussed at the Rudd Historical Society’s annual meeting scheduled for Sunday, January 29, at 3:00 pm at 400 Chickasaw Street, Rudd.
Reconstruction donations to reduce the $75,000 still needed can be sent to the Rudd Historical Society (PO Box 282, Rudd, IA 50471).
