Shelby County, Alabama (WBRC) – The Shelby Humane Society is asking for emergency donations and urgent foster care assistance as we deal with the influx of puppies and kittens.
Shelby Human’s Hayley Neal says she’s been overwhelmed by her young pets in recent weeks.
With so many facilities, Neil says there are several different needs, including a foster home for two nursing mothers who need a quiet place. They also need bottle baby fosters who may take a little longer to bottle feed their puppies or kittens every three hours.
If you can’t help with these abilities, they are in dire need of donations.
“Puppy milk and kitten milk,” explained Neil. “So if you don’t have a mother, you come in as a lost child and you still need breast milk, you really need a milk replacer or your body can’t survive on it.”
Neil is short on staff and is asking for any help he can get.
“Grow an adult dog, even if it’s been raised for a few weeks,” she said. “Even if you have one garage or an extra room, whatever you can do is better than where they live here.”
If you are interested in fostering, you can apply on our website. Donate or mail to 381 McDow Road, Columbiana.
