TEHRAN – The 17th Fajr International Poetry Festival was held in Shiraz on Saturday to pay tribute to the victims of the Shah Chelah terrorist attack.
Several pilgrims who visited Shah Chella, the shrine of Ahmad ibn Moussa (AS) in the southern Iranian city, were killed in an attack carried out by ISIS last October.
At the opening ceremony, Alila Mezani, director of the festival’s organizer Iran Book and Literature House, expressed his joy at choosing Shiraz as the organizer of the event.
“We started the festival in a city that moved to the center stage of the country because of the terrorist attacks. Now it’s where the country’s poetic seedlings sprout,” he said.
Poetry is a major part of Iranian identity, he said, adding, “The choice of Shiraz as the organizer of the festival reflects the potential potential that the people of the Fars region have for poetry and literature.” was.”
Ramezani said he hopes the festival will help reveal people’s lesser-known stories and help restore unity to society.
Esmael Mohebipur, Acting Governor-General for Political, Security and Social Affairs, Fars, was also present at the opening ceremony of the festival.
In a short speech, he said that various issues of the present and the future are reflected by literary and poetic writers, adding that a future full of hope and happiness is necessary for a country to progress. .
Fars Culture and Islamic Leadership Director Hamidreza Kanay also made a speech.
He said that Shiraz is most famous as the home of famous poets such as Sadie and Hafez, and expressed hope that choosing Shiraz as the host city would bring good results to the event.
At the opening ceremony, Ahad Debozoghi, Mahmoud Ekramifad, Reza Esmaili, Golamreza Kafi and several other poets read their latest works and unveiled the festival poster.
Poets from all over the country will showcase their works created over the past year at the festival.
