The Pennsylvania State Historical Museums Commission has awarded approximately $2 million in cultural and historical support grants.
And it brings some operating money to the Warren County Historical Society.
“The goal of the Cultural and Historical Support Grant Program is to support the general operations of eligible museums and official county historical societies not supported by funding programs of other state agencies, thereby making the State of Pennsylvania a better place. It’s about strengthening the museum community.” The commission said in a statement.
According to PHMC, the award is based on a percentage of the museum’s operating budget size.
“All county official historical societies receive a minimum grant of $4,000.” they say.
The Society was awarded these funds a year ago, and Managing Director Michelle Gray has since provided operational support. “An essential tool for the daily work of the Warren County Historical Society”
Eligibility is related to being a county commissioner-designated historic institution — “A responsibility that organizations take very seriously.” Gray said.
