One of the brightest stars of the symphonic rock scene, Tarja Turunen is arguably the most internationally renowned Finnish voice in music. A soprano, composer and songwriter, she co-founded the Finnish symphonic metal band She Nightwish and has been the voice and image for nine years, earning her records gold and platinum in several countries. Records won her awards and gained international fame.
The unique combination of metal music and Taja’s soprano lead vocals spawned a new genre that quickly gained critical and commercial popularity and inspired many other metal bands and performers. But it wasn’t her destiny to sing only the works of others, and her talent could only blossom outside that crate, Taja had to walk alone.
Having finally been able to follow her own inspirations, hearts and dreams, Tarja has successfully devoted herself to both classical and rock music.
Tarja was nominated for an Emma Award in Finland in 2006 and 2007 and an Echo Award in Germany in 2007. She is the first Finnish solo artist to achieve her record gold in Germany, and also the only artist to achieve both in 2007. She works in bands and as a solo artist.
In 2015 and 2016, she was also busy appearing as a coach on two seasons of The Voice of Finland, the most-watched TV show on Finnish Channel 4, leading her team to two consecutive victories. led. It happened earlier in Finnish show history.
After more than 15 years of solo career, it’s finally time to celebrate. The Best Of: Living the Dream brings together the best and most beloved songs of Tarja’s prolific solo career in one excellent package.
