Biographer Hermione Lee, British Library Chief Executive Laurie Keating, Putin’s people Writer Catherine Belton, author of The Terrible Henry, Francesca Simon, Diary of a young naturalist Writer Dara McAnulty is one of those recognized on King Charles III’s first New Year’s Honors List.
Professor Emeritus of English Literature at the University of Oxford and already a Dame, Lee was awarded the Knight’s Grand Cross of the Order of the British Empire, the highest honor in the Order of the British Empire, for his services to English literature. Lee is the author of many notable biographies, including: Virginia Woolf (vintage, 1997), Penelope Fitzgerald: Life (Chatto & Windus, 2007) and Tom Stoppard: Life (Favor & Faber, 2020).
Keating, meanwhile, was knighted for his contributions to literature, alongside artist Grayson Perry. human descent (Allen Lane) and play in the gallery (Penguin Books).
Vernon Bogdanner, Professor of Political Science at King’s College London, was also knighted for his services to political science.his latest book The Strange Survivor of Liberal Britain: Pre-World War I Politics and Power Published by Biteback in October.

Additionally, MBE went to Stephen John Blakely for service to the library and to the communities of Fermanagh, Omagh and Five Miletown. In a separate list of overseas honors compiled to recognize “exceptional people” for their service to Britain abroad and abroad, including senior diplomats at the forefront of Britain’s response to the war in Ukraine, Leslie Prof. Rocco, Founder and Director of the African Institute for the Future, has an OBE in Services to Architecture and Education, Accra, Ghana. Rocco is also a novelist, whose books include: soul sisters (Macmillan, 2021), in love and war (Orion, 2014) and one secret summer (Orion, 2010).
Teenage environmental activist Dara McAnulty Diary of a young naturalist (Little Toller/Ebury Press) was awarded the Wainwright Award and the British Empire Medal for its services to the environment and people with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
