Real Madrid winger Vinicius Jr. was again the subject of racism when he came off the pitch during the 2-0 La Liga match against Real Valladolid on 30 December.

Fans at the José Zorrilla Stadium directed racial slurs at the Brazilian, but the winger was visibly frustrated with the situation. He walked off angrily, showing his displeasure with his racist fans.

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has responded to the incident.

The Italian coach told the media (h/t Madrid Xtra):

“I do not tolerate racism whatsoever. This is not Vinicius’ fault. We stand by him. This is a social problem. It should never happen. We must do more.”

🎙 | Ancelotti: “I do not tolerate racism at all. This is not Vinicius’ fault. We stand by him. This is a social problem. It should never happen. More must be done.” I have to.”

This isn’t the first time Vinicius Jr. has received vulgar racist remarks on the pitch. Atlético Madrid fans abused their players in the Madrid derby earlier this season.

This Brazilian international has remained in impressive form on the field despite such abuse from opposition fans. He has scored his 10 goals and provided 5 assists in his 22 appearances across the competition this season.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid are currently second in the La Liga. They are level on points with league leaders Barcelona (38), but behind them on goal difference.

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has refused to get too involved in the controversial Vinicius Jr. case.

Speaking to the media ahead of the Copa del Rey clash with Casereno, Ancelotti said (via Football España):

“I haven’t had these talks. This is very clear. I’m not talking about racism or xenophobia or anything else that doesn’t need to exist. Social issues that don’t need to exist.” , so it would be a mistake to focus on that in Vini. For me, this issue should never be allowed.”

Ancelotti also gave an update on the Real Madrid team before the game. The team completed his session of public training in Valdebebas. He said (through the Madrid administration)

“Courtois and Carvajal will be back for the Villarreal trip this weekend, but they have a slight problem and will not play in this match. , the other players are available and I will try to play as well as I can.”

    he added:

“From Castile we also have Sergio Arrivas, Nico Paz, Marvel and Alvaro Rodriguez. Besides these four, there are many other players from Castile. Raul is doing a good job. ”
