    BAFTA Award-winning screenwriter and playwright Jack Thorne has revealed he was diagnosed with autism after a listener contacted him about an interview on Desert Island Disc and asked for advice. did.

    On Twitter, the 44-year-old told followers he was diagnosed just before Christmas after a “long journey” that began with listeners hearing about an interview with host Lauren Laverne.

    Listeners asked him if he thought he was on the autism spectrum, he said.

    “Personal news: Just before Christmas, I was diagnosed with autism. It’s been a long road, but I’m glad I went. I hope it helps, I don’t understand everything yet, but I’m getting there.

    “Strangely enough, it all started with making the Desert Island disc. A very kind listener reached out and asked if I had considered the idea that I might have autism.” My lovely agent thought there might be some truth to it, and my wife did, too.So I started digging.

    “Getting diagnosed is a complicated process, but I’ve found a lot of kindness along the way. I’m so glad I was able to do it. I’m very, very grateful to be able to know this about myself.” I am happy.”

    In an interview with Desert Island Disc, Thorne told Laverne that he likes working on multiple projects at once. I’m addicted to it and not in a healthy way… sometimes there’s something to replace – you go, oh I can still do this, I’m not terrible, I can sleep, I can change my brain off – so good.”

    When asked about his studies at Cambridge University, he said he felt like he didn’t fit in well with the other students.

    “I’m really clumsy and I don’t really understand how other people work. I’m always on the outside, watching them and going. I don’t understand how you’re talking. I understand why you’re talking, but I’m not sure how to join the conversation.”

    Thorne, who gave a MacTaggart talk at the 2021 Edinburgh Television Festival and called on the industry to do more for people with disabilities, said cholinergic urticaria, or chronic urticaria, which can be triggered by stress. We also talked about being diagnosed with she is 20 years old.
