The Ukrainian Red Cross, with the support of Samsung Electronics Ukraine, has provided humanitarian aid worth $6 million to the most vulnerable.

$5 million was spent on hospital medical equipment and basic necessities, including food kits and food vouchers. One million dollars was allocated for the supply of household appliances such as washing machines, microwave ovens, refrigerators and medical freezers. The Ukrainian Red Cross has delivered these to hospitals, orphanages and shelters for internally displaced persons across the country.

    Medical equipment

As of March 2022, we have provided the following items to medical institutions in the Kharkiv, Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Chernihiv, Ternopil, Sumy and Dnipropetrovsk regions:

Medical Products — 32,084 units (hemostats and tourniquets, surgical materials, infection test kits); Medical Devices — 16 units (endoscopic and X-ray systems, electrosurgical and respiratory anesthesia machines, operating tables); Neonatal Medical Devices — 69 units (operating table, lung ventilator, ultrasound diagnostic system, incubator, bassinet).

Medical equipment was handed over directly to medical institutions, namely NSCH “Ohmatdyt”, obstetric centers, emergency hospitals, regional and district hospitals and perinatal centers with the participation of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

“*The device (Oscar Classic X-ray Fluoroscopic System, Ed.) donated to our hospital saves lives every day. The old device was purchased 15 years ago and is already out of order. Thanks to you. , said Valery Zarevsky, head of the department of the Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery.

    food aid

The financial support of Samsung Electronics Ukraine provided the most vulnerable people with:

    • 77 400 food baskets.
    • 6,800 sets of gift certificates.

    home appliances

About 1,000 social and medical institutions received 3,367 electrical appliances, including 1,042 washing machines, 371 refrigerators, 1,867 microwave ovens, and 87 freezers.

“We have received the washing machine and microwave oven and have already installed them in the department. We are very grateful for the support as it is very important for our hospital treating children in the southern region. We respond to all emergency calls.Children with injuries and children in maternity hospitals. Some children stay here for a while and their parents stay with them. And , these household appliances will greatly improve the state of the sector. Svitlana Dikal, Deputy Director of Nursing, Odessa Regional Children’s Clinical Hospital, said:

Thanks to Samsung Electronics Ukraine, about 200 people, including IDPs in Mariupol, whose homes were destroyed, are getting better living conditions in new state-provided apartments.

“We are from Mariupol, we have three children, our house was destroyed by missiles, now we are staying with relatives. You can move into a nice, very bright and beautiful apartment.” Said Yana and Alexander, who had moved from Mariupol to Boryspil.

The apartments were purchased as part of a social housing program by the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine, providing 60 apartments in the regions of Zhytomyr, Sumy, Kyiv and Chernihiv. The Ukrainian Red Cross Society has provided necessary appliances, cooking utensils and bedding sets for the apartment with the donation of Samsung Electronics Ukraine. Specifically, 52 microwave ovens, 52 refrigerators, 52 washing machines, 200 mattresses, 260 sets of bedding, 260 blankets and 520 towels were provided.

“The Ukrainian Red Cross is doing its utmost to help those affected by the war in Ukraine almost 24 hours a day and to overcome the humanitarian crisis. The timely procurement of medical equipment for hospitals can save thousands of lives, and home appliances have been a very important contribution as they make people’s living conditions more comfortable. The Secretary General of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society Maksim Dotsenko said:

“The prosperity and development of the country depends on the well-being of its citizens. Therefore, Samsung Electronics Ukraine is helping people who find themselves in difficult situations and are forced to leave their homes. Interaction and cooperation are more important than ever.I believe that we can all achieve the early reconstruction of Ukraine.” — Mr. Danny Liu, President of Samsung Electronics Ukraine.
