Laredo, Texas (KGNS) – February 24 marks the one year anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. A woman living in that war-torn country of Laredo is doing her part to help those affected by the conflict.
Oksana Vavryk has been in the US for two years and recently returned to visit her son and other relatives who still live in Ukraine. She said she was devastated by what she saw, and she channeled that pain into her work.Vavryk learned to crochet from her YouTube videos and used her creations to Her donation can be exchanged to be sent back to her home country.
Vavryk said: I knew his son and he said to me, Can you make bracelets? And I said, ‘Well, I’ve never done this before in my life.’ But I decided: He wants this.
Vavryk will be hosting a garage sale on Saturday, February 25th to send more proceeds home.
