MOUNT DORA, FL (WFLA) — A woman has been charged with murder after a couple in Mount Dora was murdered in a senior living community on New Year’s Eve.
Vicky Williams, 50, was previously a key figure in the case. She is now facing her two charges of first-degree murder, in the deaths of Darryl Gettman, 83, and Sharon Gettman, 80, in her WESH report.
The news station reported that Williams had already been arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft in the case.
Williams is being held without bail.
Police said Williams was found driving the murdered couple’s car in Savannah, Georgia. She was booked into the Chatham County Jail on her Tuesday, January 3rd.
WESH reported that Getmans was found dead inside his home in the Waterman Village complex on New Year’s Eve.
Investigators told the news station that Williams was escorted from Waterman Village around 3 p.m. Friday, but she was found just over an hour later.
Police believe Williams knocked on the door and asked to use the shower around 11 p.m. Friday.
Security and police responded, but Gibson said the woman escaped and grabbed a mailbox and a set of keys by the door that belonged to the car, but it wasn’t Gettman’s car keys.
Investigators said Getmans’ car was seen driving around 2 a.m. on Saturday, but the couple were not found until afternoon.
Police told WESH that the killing of the elderly couple appeared to be accidental.
According to WESH, Williams’ criminal record dates back to the 90s. Her past charges include robbery, theft and trespassing.
Her next court date is scheduled for January 30th.
