Milwaukee, Wisconsin — The Wisconsin Humane Society and St. Jude Hospital both received $40,000 from a local YouTuber.
Milwaukee-based Red Letter Media, a YouTube channel with over one million subscribers, has decided to conduct an experiment at the end of 2022 on the growing trend of VHS collection.
Red Letter Media wanted to know if VHS tapes of obscure movies could sell for as much as VHS taps of classics like “Back to the Future.”
So they put up a VHS tape of the movie “Nukie” for auction and announced that they would split all the money raised and donate it to the Wisconsin Humane Society and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
To further increase the value of the tapes, Red Letter Media purchased a wood chipper. Next, I ran dozens of Nukie tapes through a chipper.
They kept one tape, put it in a plexiglass box, and posted it on eBay at the end of 2022. By the time the auction ended, the bid was over $80,000 for him.
The 1993 film received over 224 bids, with a final bid of $80,600.
you know what that means. The Wisconsin Humane Society and St. He Jude Children’s Research Hospital both received her $40,000. To close out the bid, the Wisconsin Humane Society took to her Twitter to thank Red Letter Media for the donation.
